Support camp

2012 Camp dates announced
7th - 11th August 2012
Further information will be available in March on how to apply for a place, become a camp leader or to volunteer.

What is it?
A residential support camp for up to 100 HIV+ young people aged 13-17 from across the UK and Ireland. Teenagers have the opportunity to learn about living well with HIV, meet other HIV positive young people and take part in creative and outdoor group activities.

"I got to meet people with the same thing as me, because where I live it just felt like it was just me"

CHIVA ran its first support camp in August 2010 and it was an incredible success. 79 HIV+ young people aged 13-17 from across the UK and Ireland attended the camp. The second camp ran in August 2011 with 97 young people attending and taking place in a range of HIV workshops, outdoor and creative activities.

Both the young people and volunteers who attended reported having a 'life changing' experience.

"I learned that I can be confident and I can do a lot of things I didn’t know I could do"
