My child has HIV

This area looks at some specific issues that may come up when you are living with an HIV positive child or young person.

If your child knows they have HIV, we also have a secure site just for HIV positive children and young people which has lots of information and social networking, so you can support them in joining that.

Here we look at HIV positive children going on school trips and sleepovers; how to support your child in taking their medication; when your child becomes a teenager; and talking to your positive teenager about criminal prosecution of HIV positive people for recklessly transmitting HIV.

There is a separate area which looks at talking to your child about sex.
