Enhancing the health and social wellbeing of children and young people living with HIV

CHIVA was one of the participating charities in this years REDRUN, at Victoria Park in London on World AIDS Day 2018. We had around 20 runners taking part, including members of our executive committee, and the MRC Clinical trials Unit. So far sponsorship and cake sales have raised over £7000 towards the 10th Annual Support camp which is taking place in August 2019. We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part, ran, baked, supported runners and helped spread information about the campaign. You can find out more about Redrun here. We will be participating again in REDRUN 2019. If you would like to run for CHIVA, please get in touch at, registration will go live in June 2019. We will post further information here then.

CHIVA are dependent on charitable grants and donations to deliver our projects. We welcome interest from individuals and organisations who would like to undertake fundraising to support our work. If you would like a pack to support a fundraising activity please get in touch to discuss with us.

We have an ongoing fundraising need to support the delivery of our annual support camp for children with HIV. Up to 100 children attend each year, and every year we need to secure the funds to run the camp. Support camp offers a package of therapeutic and creative activities developed to explore growing up with HIV, to increase knowledge and understanding, enhance confidence and self esteem, and for young people to develop critical peer support networks.

“We'd heard of 'The Camp' from HIV nurses - a magical Wonderland where children disappear down a rabbit hole of self discovery and emerge more accepting of themselves and their condition… Our child had gone and a young woman re-appeared before us. She simply said: "Next year I want to go for 6 weeks." And that sentence is all you need to know about the CHIVA Camp. It is about the power of a group, the power of a space (the only space) where the secret of having HIV can be openly shared”  (Parent of a child who attended CHIVA support camp in 2017.)

CHIVA works with clinics and families to support children to attend our support camp and covers all the costs of a child attending including travel from anywhere in the UK and Ireland. It costs £500 for a child to attend our residential support camp for a week. If you would like to make a donation to CHIVA to support this work please donate here:
