Part Time Specialist Project Support Officer

Contract and Hours: Permanent 24 hours per week, (3 days)

Location: Sheffield (Home based with frequent regional travel to attend clinics)

Salary: £30,000 (Pro Rata) per annum

CHIVA’s mission is to ensure that children, young people and families living with HIV become healthier, happier and more in control of their own futures. CHIVA works to ensure young people living with HIV have the treatment and care, knowledge, understanding, skills and wider support needed to live well and achieve their greatest potential.

We are looking for a specialist project support officer to join our growing charity. You should be a qualified healthcare or social care professional with a passion for the work of our organisation and a clear understanding of the issues facing young people and children growing up with HIV. You should also be committed to the safeguarding of children and the ethos of the organisation.

You will provide emotional and social support and HIV education to children, young people and young adults who are living with HIV in the Yorkshire region. Your main duties will include holding one to one meetings and providing emotional and social support in group settings during peer events. Your work will be focussed on enabling a smooth transition to adult services. You will work with multi disciplinary teams across the region, attending meetings and providing support to ensure that children and young people are provided with the right level of support as and when required. As part of this role you will act as an advocate for young people and their families in wider society and other organisations such as local authorities and schools.

Candidate requirements:

A health care or social work professional An understanding of issues facing children and young people growing up with HIV

Experience of working with children and families who may have complex needs

Demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to, Confidentiality and Data Protection
