We employ young adults with lived experience of growing up with HIV in a range of roles, from pastoral support roles with the youth committee to interviewers on the Positively Spoken oral history project. Ten of these young adults came together for a reflective training weekend in early March which provided the opportunity for an update on facilitation skills, one to one support work, and safeguarding.
The weekend reaffirmed the value of young adults working in these roles and the wealth of experience, as well as skills, that they bring. The young adults said that they valued the time to reflect on their journey with Chiva and everyone enjoyed seeing each other. Chiva plans to repeat this event on an annual basis.
