The CHIVA Youth Committee has achieved a lot in recent years.
Media work
- One CYC member and another CHIVA participant talked about their HIV and their friendship in a short film with BBC Wales Live
- One member appeared on the Listening Project (BBC Radio 4) in April 2019 and in November 2019
Conferences
- One member attended and presented at the 2019 International Workshop on HIV & Women in Seattle, USA
- CYC members won scholarships and presented at the International HIV Conference in Amsterdam (2018)
Research and policy
- Contributed to the HIV Nursing Journal (Spring 2020 edition)
- Inputted into the INTUIT research study which looks at the sharing of personal data by people living with HIV with healthcare providers and others, and how this can empower these people to live well
- Contributed to a consultation led by the Office for the Children’s Commissioner exploring the needs of young people in society today
- Gave views on Key Performance Indicators for the NHS Service Specification for Paediatric HIV in 2019

- Following the appointment of a CYC member who is deaf, the group has been learning British Sign Language and considering how their work can address the HIV-related needs of the deaf community.
