CHIVA has been working with UNICEF CIS/CEE Regional Office since 2013 on the project 'Strengthening care and support services for adolescents living with HIV'. This work has included designing and running a three-day training course for practitioners developing support services for HIV positive adolescents which is currently running in the CIS/CEE region.
We have provided several training courses in Ukraine for health and social care professionals. As well as Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Russia and Siberia. The training covers key issues in work with children and adolescents with HIV, such as naming HIV to younger children and developing simple creative resources. Managing adherence with a holistic child centred approach. Approaches to sexual health. Promoting a child rights based approach which aims to empower children from a young age to understand their health.
Additionally to this a handbook for practitioners has been written, (see below) with accompanying videos, which are available via our youtube channel and in 2017 a series of webinars were delivered.
