This area is for people who are either thinking about fostering an HIV positive child or have found out that a child they are fostering is HIV positive. Fear and lack of understanding of HIV can make people feel scared – but there is nothing to be afraid of. This section offers information to help you understand HIV so you have up-to-date knowledge; it looks at the importance of confidentiality and the question of who to tell about the child’s HIV status and specific support needs. If after reading this you still have questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
The Fostering Network also has produced a leaflet that provides some guidance to foster carers who are fostering an HIV positive child.
