Enhancing the health and social wellbeing of children and young people living with HIV

Talking Sex

Talking to your child about sex can be difficult for most parents, but children do need to know about sex – both the physical and emotional sides – and they need accurate information before puberty.

When you or your child has HIV, talking about sex can really help with preparing to later talk about HIV. Ideally, both should be an ongoing conversation, and in some ways the earlier you start, the easier it will be.

In this area you will find information about talking to younger children about sex, and talking about sex with your teenager.

We have provided you with lots of links and resources which will help you prepare to talk about sex with your child.
