Enhancing the health and social wellbeing of children and young people living with HIV

Family Conference 2020

For the last two year we have successfully delivered a family conference for parent/carers of a child or young person who is growing up living with HIV, and young adults who have grown up living with HIV. This is a safe space where participants can: attend sessions exploring family communication and HIV, hear from the CHIVA Youth Committee and other young people about their experiences growing up with HIV; hear what young people living with HIV need from their family members, and hear from other parents and carers prerspectives, plus attend specialist workshops exploring topics such as positive parenting techniques, understanding the impact of bereavement, and self care. We are delighted to be providing another family conference in 2020.

This event is exclusively for families who are living with, or affected by HIV. All travel expenses will be reimbursed, please contact us to arrange this. Please note, there will also be a play facility available for younger children.  CHIVA are running this event in partnership with METRO Charity.

To attend, please register here. For more information about the day, please see the draft Programme below:

Current UK Government guidance does not suggest that travel to the conference will present any increased risks to individuals.

Individuals who have travelled from current regions of concern within recent weeks with any flu like symptoms should follow Government guidance which is consistently updated. Full information provided here.

CHIVA will amend guidance on attendance at our conferences in line with any developments in Government guidance.
