2018 Families Conference- Going Forward

Professionals and Families collaborating to enhance HIV care for children and young people

The first CHIVA family conference is taking place on Saturday 3rd March 2018 at Friends House, 173 - 177 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ. 10.30am-5pm.

This event is designed for families where one or more child is living with HIV and is free to attend.

The conference will provide engaging, interactive workshops for families which enable adults, children and young people to explore issues, identify current needs and develop confidence and skills. There will also be plenary lectures which focus on important current research into onward transmission of HIV emphasizing treatment as prevention as well as accessible information and updates about treatment and care. Find out full programme details here.

To attend register here. Travel bursaries are also available. Please email message@chiva.org.uk or call us on 0117 9105226 to discuss your travel requirements.  Download a flyer about the event here.

We welcome children to this event as the conference is for families, which include a child who lives with HIV. Children over 8 can attend workshops with their parents /carers and siblings. They will need to know about HIV in their family to attend the workshops.

We will be providing a children’s activity room for children under 8. It is important to be aware our families conference is an event where HIV will be explored openly. Materials and information on HIV will be at the conference and families should consider in advance the awareness their children have of HIV in their family as younger children not participating in the workshops may still access information about HIV.

Babies under the age of 18 months can remain with their parents in workshops. However children over 18months and under 8 years would need to join the children’s activity room where they will be cared for by staff throughout the day.

Meals and snacks will be provided for all family members attending the conference.

Any questions at all about this please contact us.
