CHIVA Conference and Family Conference

The 16th Annual Chiva Conference took place on Friday 20th May 2022, at Friends House, London & online.

This is our conference for professionals and this year we had an exciting programme with national and international speakers sharing updates on paediatric HIV research, the UNAIDS Global AIDS Strategy, the transition from child to adult care and more.

It was extra special this year, as we were celebrating 20 years of Chiva.

The Chiva Family conference took place the following day, on Saturday 21st May 2022, 10:30 am to 3:30pm at Friends House, London. This was a free event for children and young people living with HIV and their families, and young adults who have grown up living with HIV.

The day included hearing from the Chiva Youth Committee, a session on understanding HIV related stigma and self-sigma, creative activities and much more. Families were able to connect in a safe space and share experiences.

Feedback from the day included:

“Having HIV doesn’t make you alone”

“Empowered against self-stigma”

“I really enjoyed and felt warm about getting to know others and their personal stories”
