Registration opens for Freedom 2 Be summer camp 2024
We’re excited to announce that camp registration is now OPEN. From 30 July – 3 August, up to 100 young people living with HIV will join us in rural Derbyshire for educational workshops and arts, adventure and wellbeing activities, all shared with friends, old and new.
Who? Camp is open to 11-17-year-olds growing up with HIV in the UK and Ireland (we will also accept 10-year-olds who have finished Year 6 by August but are yet to turn 11.) Last year, we had over 75 young people attending and camp activities were divided into two age groups.
When? This year, camp will run from 30 July – 3 August 2024 in rural Derbyshire. All costs will be covered, including transport, which will be arranged by the Chiva team.
What’s the aim? To bring young people living with HIV together in a safe and welcoming environment where they are free to be themselves, share what they’re going through and get support from a network of those going through the same things.
We also want young people living with HIV to know as much as possible about the virus and their treatment, giving them more confidence and control.
And of course, we want everyone to have a fun and memorable week, which keeps them coming back every summer! We’ve been running this for a while, and many do.
What happened last year?
I’m too old for camp! Can I still get involved? We’re also now accepting applications for volunteers to help run camp: Camp Leaders (18-25 and living with HIV) and Key Workers (members of the wider public who do not need to be living with HIV). See more about our volunteering opportunities and apply here.
